Mumbai: Nearly a week after being freed from COVID-19, Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan on Tuesday said he would like to bid goodbye to the coronavirus pandemic. Bachchan attended the trailer launch event of his upcoming film “Goodbye” online and apologized to the media for not attending the event in person on the advice of doctors. Bachchan is currently hosting the 14th season of “Kaun Banega Crorepati” and started shooting for it last Thursday. Earlier, he had announced he to be infection free on social media. Asked what he would like to say ‘goodbye’ to, the senior actor said, “Covid-19.” The 79-year-old actor said that despite reaching this stage in his career, he is getting opportunities to play diverse roles.

He said, “(With every film offered) I feel like I have got another job. At my age, we hardly get any work and whenever I get work, I feel lucky.” Bachchan said, “We just do what the writer has written and the director has asked us to do. It’s an honor and a privilege that they are able to give me something different.” After Nagraj Manjule’s ‘Jhund’ and Ajay Devgn’s ‘Runway34’, Bachchan has three more films lined up for release this year, including Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’, Vikas Bahl’s ‘Goodbye’ and Sooraj Barjatya’s ‘Uchhai’.

Bachchan said, “I hope people will watch and like this (‘Goodbye’) film. Many things change with time… When one technology replaces another, it takes time. I hope people get a chance to watch it in cinemas and on OTT (over the top i.e. digital medium) too.” ‘Goodbye’ is produced by Ekta R Kapoor’s ‘Balaji Motion Pictures’ and ‘Good Company’. The film is to be released worldwide on October 7.

Rashmika Mandanna is all ready to make her Bollywood debut with Goodbye alongside Amitabh Bachchan and the trailer has just dropped. Rashmika, who is best known for her roles in Pushpa and Dear Comrade, plays the role of Big B and Neena Gupta’s daughter in the emotional family drama revolving around a passing of a family member. The film also stars Sunil Grover, Pavail Gulati, and Elli AvrRam in pivotal roles.

The trailer opens with the death of Neena Gupta’s character while Amitabh has to gather the children for the funeral. In a dysfunctional family, the trailer reveals that the children are not on the same page as their father but they somehow find a way to not only get along but also remember their mother fondly.
