New Delhi: Since the fake web series, fake notes have again come into the limelight. Although making fake notes is not child’s play, but big players are engaged in this game. They try to make exact notes with new techniques. Sometimes they are successful in this and sometimes they are caught. These fake notes are made in such a way that by the time people come to know that it is fake, it is too late.
If this ever happens to you. That is, if someone gives you a fake note or you get a fake note from the ATM itself, then what should you do? It is the rule of RBI that if a fake note has come out of a bank’s ATM, then that bank will compulsorily exchange that note. However, for this, you will have to identify the fake note in front of the ATM and then show both the front and back of the note on the camera installed there. If there is a security guard there, inform him as well.
What to do with a fake note found in a transaction
In such a situation, it becomes very difficult to exchange notes. However, if you find a large number of fake notes, take them to the nearest branch of RBI as soon as possible. You should have strong evidence that you have received these fake notes by fraud. Along with this, you will also have to inform the nearest police station.
Don’t try to run counterfeit notes
If you get fake notes, do not try to hide them or run them in the market. If you are found doing this then punitive action can be taken against you under section 489C of IPC. In this, you can be punished from 7 years to life imprisonment. Also, you can be fined heavily.
How to recognize
The watermark of a fake note (picture of Mahatma Gandhi, denomination print of currency note) is thick and unsightly as compared to the original note. This happens because of the use of grease or oil. Apart from this, oblique lines are made on the edges of the note, which are called bleed lines. There are 2 circles in between them. There are 4 bleed lines on 100-200 notes, 5 on 500 notes, and 7 on 2000 notes. The security thread on which India and RBI are written should be visible inside the note.
