Honda NX500: A New Adventure Tourer For India At ₹5.90 Lakh

New Delhi: Honda has introduced a new adventure tourer bike, the NX500, in the Indian market. The bike is priced at ₹5.90 lakh (ex-showroom) as an introductory offer. The NX500 replaces the CB500X in the company’s lineup and will be imported as a completely built-up (CBU) unit.

The NX500 is a versatile bike that can handle both on-road and off-road conditions. It has a rugged design with a tall windscreen, a high-mounted exhaust, and a bash plate. The bike is available in three colour options: Grand Prix Red, Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic, and Pearl Horizon White.

The bike is powered by a 471cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke DOHC engine that has a parallel twin-cylinder layout. This motor, which generates maximum power of 46.9 bhp at 8,600 rpm and peak torque of 43 Nm at 6,500 rpm, comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. The NX500 has a fuel tank capacity of 17.5 litres and a claimed mileage of 27.8 kmpl.

The NX500 is equipped with features such as a 5-inch full-colour TFT screen that offers music/voice control and turn-by-turn navigation via the Honda Road Sync app. The bike also has all-LED lighting, an Emergency Stop Signal, a traction control system called Honda Selectable Torque Control, and dual-channel ABS. The bike has a steel diamond frame and Showa suspension with 41mm upside-down forks at the front and a Pro-Link mono-shock at the rear. The bike has a kerb weight of 196 kg and a seat height of 830 mm.

The NX500 will compete with other adventure tourers in the Indian market such as Kawasaki Versys 650, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, and KTM 390Adventure. The NX500 can be purchased only through Honda’s BigWing dealerships and the deliveries are scheduled to commence in February.
