New Delhi: Smokers and vegetarians have lower seropositivity and people with O blood are less likely to be infected with the coronavirus. The purpose of the CIRO survey conducted across India by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) was to determine the presence of antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus responsible for COVID-19. And their ability to detect potential risks of infection and neutralize the virus.

The study, conducted by 140 scientists and physicians, assessed 10,427 adults and their family members working in more than 40 CSIR laboratories in urban and semi-urban centers. These people volunteered to take part in the study.

The survey found that despite being a Covid-19 respiratory disease, smoking can protect the front line from it as it produces more mucus. However, it warns that more focused procedural studies are needed to understand the effects of smoking and nicotine on coronavirus transmission.

The research paper said, “Smoking is considered to be extremely harmful to health and is associated with many diseases and the results of the study should not be considered to promote it, especially given that the relationship is not yet fully established. Has happened. “

Studies have shown that vegetarian food is rich in fiber which can play a role in providing immunity against covid-19. Vegetarianism has anti-inflammatory properties by changing the form of micro-organisms present in the intestines. The survey also found that people with blood type ‘O’ have a lower risk of infection while those with ‘B’ and ‘AB’ blood groups have a higher risk.
