
Pune: The city has a total road length of 1400 km under the Pune Municipal Corporation. However, in the last three years, 1100 km of roads have been dug in the city. That is, out of the total road length in the city, 80 percent of the roads have been dug. Roads were dug in the city in the last three years for general water supply, laying sewerage channels. Along with that, roads were dug to lay underground cables to the mobile company and Mahavitaran.
Roads were exposed in the first rain itself
This year, the first monsoon rains in Pune city in July exposed the plight of the city’s roads. The pothole kingdom was beginning to appear on most of the city’s streets. This caused inconvenience to the citizens. Due to this, water was accumulating on the roads and there was also a traffic jam. The quality of the roads built by the Municipal Corporation came to the fore in the first rain itself. Seeing the increasing complaints of citizens on this, the Municipal Corporation decided to take action against the contractors.

The trouble caused due to not repairing properly after road excavation
Meanwhile, in the last three years, information about the excavation of 80 percent of the total roads in the municipal limits has come to the fore. The Pune Municipal Corporation has a total road length of 1400 km. Out of this, 1100 km of roads have been excavated in the last three years. Roads were dug for laying of cables by a common water supply line, sewerage line, mobile company, and Mahavitaran. However, due to the lack of proper repair of the roads after the excavation, during the rainy days, there was an empire of potholes on the roads. This caused a lot of trouble for the Punekars.
Rs 100 crore notice sent to Metro
Metro work is in progress in Pune city. Excavations have been done on many main roads to lay the Metro network. The repair work has been done by the Municipal Corporation on these roads. The Pune Municipal Corporation has sent a notice of about Rs 100 crore to the metro administration responsible for this, according to municipal officials.
Rs 56 lakh fine collected
The Municipal Administration has so far collected a fine of Rs 56 lakh by taking action against the contractors due to the poor quality of road construction. In this, the Municipal Corporation has collected a fine of Rs 6 lakh from its contractors. Along with him, 14 lakh from the contractors of the water supply department, 35 lakh from the electricity company, and 40 thousand from the drainage department, a total fine of Rs 56 lakh has been collected.
