Bengaluru: Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on Thursday said that its laboratory at Kanpur (Kanpur), Defense Materials and Stores Research and Development Establishment (DMSRDE) Has developed a Bulletproof Jacket weighing only nine kilograms. The DRDO said that this jacket will help in fulfilling the quality requirements of the Indian Army.

The DRDO said in a statement that the ‘Front Hard Armor Panel’ (FHAP) jacket was tested at the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL) in Chandigarh and the Bureau of Indian Standards standards were achieved.

At the same time, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO scientists and related industry for developing low weight bulletproof jackets to provide relief to the soldiers. Dr. G Satish Reddy, President of DRDO also congratulated the team of DMSRDE on the development of this bulletproof jacket.

According to DRDO, the significance of this important development lies in the fact that each gram reduction in the weight of the jacket provides relief to the soldiers while ensuring the safety of the soldiers.

It said that medium-sized bulletproof jackets have been weighed from 10.4 kg to nine kg through technology. Specific materials and technologies were used in the laboratory for this purpose.
