
Karachi: A massive explosion rocked the vicinity of Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport late last night, resulting in the tragic deaths of three foreign nationals and leaving over 17 others seriously injured. Among the deceased, two were identified as Chinese nationals. The Balochistan National Army, a known terrorist group, has claimed responsibility for this heinous attack.

According to the Chinese Embassy, the explosion occurred at approximately 11 PM local time. The blast, which originated from a tanker, specifically targeted a convoy of Chinese engineers working on an electricity project in Sindh province. The embassy confirmed that the attack was a deliberate act of terrorism aimed at Chinese nationals.
Eyewitness Accounts and Immediate Aftermath
The Home Minister of Sindh province, Zila ul Hasan Lanjar, indicated that an improvised explosive device (IED) was likely used in the attack. The explosion was so powerful that it was heard across multiple areas of the city, causing widespread panic. All injured individuals have been rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical treatment.
Extensive Damage and Fire Outbreak
The explosion caused significant damage to the surrounding area. Vehicles parked near the airport, including those in the VIP protocol area, caught fire, leading to a chaotic scene. Eyewitnesses reported seeing flames engulfing several cars and a thick column of smoke rising from the site.
Journalist Saeed Wasim, who was present at the scene, described the explosion as occurring on the main road leading out of the airport. Rahat Hussain, an employee of the Civil Aviation Department, noted that the blast was so intense that it shook the airport buildings.
