New Delhi: Chief Justice NV Ramana on Saturday expressed serious concern over the increasing violence against doctors and false cases being registered against them. Speaking at the release of the book ‘Atlas of Breast Elastography and Ultrasound-Guided Fine Needle Cytology’ authored by Dr. Col CS Pant and Dr. Vanita Kapoor, Justice Raman said, “This is where professional medical associations assume great importance. . They have to be proactive in raising the demands of the doctors.”
He also said that women constitute 50 percent of the country’s population and are the backbone of the family and society, therefore, their health should find an equal place in society and policies.
Justice Ramana observed, “People, especially the women in the household, take care of the health of everyone except their own. It is the duty of the other members of the family, especially the husband and children, to send her for regular health check-ups so that she may be in a position to understand her own body and health.”
He said, “We realize the importance of a wife or a mother when she is not there. I realize that even though my mother passed away at the age of 80, I still feel the loss of my mother. So every family should recognize the importance of that housewife who takes care of the whole family.”
