Santiago: The Chilean government highlighted on Saturday a health program, which offers professional mental health help to the country’s people during the COVID-19 pandemic, media reported on Sunday.
Within the framework of the celebration of World Mental Health Day on October 10, the program, first presented on June 1, offers professional help through an online platform, where Chileans can request an hour-long appointment with a psychologist, as well as view a series of recommendations to help manage mental health issues, said Deputy Minister of Public Health Paula Daza.
To date, more than 75,000 people have been served through the platform and the site has received over 123,000 visitors, she said.
The Chilean government explained that this program include the creation of an advisory board on mental health and well-being, who worked for 12 weeks to design over 30 strategies and more than 100 actions, with a third of these projects already underway to serve Chilean citizens.
The health ministry reported Saturday 1,824 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, raising the national count to 479,595.
Meanwhile, 52 more deaths were reported over the past day, bringing the national death toll to 13,272.
