Union Minister Prakash Javadekar, while addressing the inaugural address at ‘FICCI Frames 2020’, spoke on all these topics.
He said, “In view of the epidemic, the government will release the Standard Operating (SOP) procedure of film shooting in India. So that the film production can be resumed at a rapid pace, which has stopped due to COVID. ” He further added that “The government is also bringing incentives in all production including TV serial, film making, co-production, animation, gaming. They will be announced soon. “
Javadekar also said that more than 80 foreign filmmakers have taken advantage of the Film Facilitation Office. He said that the discussion in FICCI Frames will definitely present new ideas, which can be worked upon. Neeti Ayog CEO Amitabh Kant said, every crisis can be turned into an opportunity and India should identify 12-13 growing regions, including the ability to become global champions to achieve sustainable high growth and create jobs.
Expressing similar views, Star and Disney India president Uday Shankar said, the media and entertainment sector is an important part of the creative economy. It can create employment and business. He added “If the industry has to develop, then the dependence on advertising has to be reduced”. Emphasizing Shankar’s point, Google’s Sanjay Gupta said that the sector could come in from $ 20 billion to $ 15 billion in 2020-21, but it would also be a bounce back like a ‘creative powerhouse’. He said that the government should take decisions in the interest of industry in the matter of taxation. Information and Broadcasting Secretary Amit Khare was also present in this technical session.
