World record made in Ujjain, city of Baba Mahakal lit up with 21 lakh lamps

Ujjain: Ujjain, the city of Baba Mahakal, lit up with the lamps of faith on Shivratri. Over 21 lakh Diyas(oil lamps) were lit. 11 lakh 71 thousand 78 earthen lamps were lit simultaneously on the banks of river Mokshadayini.

The first lamp was lit by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The team of Guinness Book of World Records has registered the name of Ujjain in the Guinness Book by calling it the largest display of oil lamps.

Earlier this record was for lighting nine lakh 41 thousand 551 days(oil lamps) in Ayodhya. Officials of Guinness Book presented a certificate to this effect to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

More than 20 thousand people participated in this Deepotsav named Shiv Jyoti Arpanam Mahotsav. The Deepotsav was broadcast on internet sites and TV channels. It was seen and appreciated by the whole world. After the program, all the lamps and empty bottles of oil were collected by the Municipal Corporation.

Municipal Commissioner Anshul Gupta claimed to be the world’s biggest zero-waste program. Said that all the used diyas (oil lamps)would be recycled and made a big Diya(oil lamps). Pots, chairs will be made from oil bottles. On the occasion of Deepotsav, more than 21 lakh Diyas (oil lamps) are lit across the city.

  • More than 11 lakh lamps were lit at 5 ghats.
  • Diyas were kept in block -6222.
  • 12444 people lit Diyas(oil lamps) between 6.35 pm to 6.55 pm.

He also observed the construction work of the Mahakal temple. The CM said that the grand, divine, and supernatural form would emerge after the completion of the expansion work of the Shri Mahakal Maharaj temple complex in Ujjain. Devotees will also get more facilities than before in the expansion of the temple complex. Praying to Shri Mahakal ji to keep his grace on all of us.

Gaurav Diwas on gudi padwa
The Chief Minister praised the citizens, local administration, public representatives for the wonderful event. Said that a similar festival would be celebrated every year on Mahashivratri. He also announced to celebrate the pride day of Ujjain on Gudi Padwa.

Huge crowd in Mahakal temple area
Here on Mahashivratri, there was a huge crowd in the Mahakal temple area. A large number of people reached the temple to have the darshan of Baba Mahakal. According to the data received from the temple management committee, 1.50 lakh people had visited till 2.30 pm. A visitor is getting darshan in 45 to 50 minutes. The channel gate at the other end of Kartikeya Mandapam was opened by changing the system of philosophy. This made the traffic more smooth.
