Lahore: A woman was stoned to death in the Punjab Province of Pakistan for allegedly having an extramarital affair, conceiving her boyfriend and running away with him (Stone unto Death). Punishment) Two members of the jirga have been arrested by the police.
According to the FIR, a six-member jirga in Muzaffargarh, about 400 km from Lahore, in its recent meeting, sentenced the woman to death by throwing stones at her. The woman is the mother of nine children. Under the tradition of ‘Karo Kari’, a woman is stoned to death in the name of family honor. Police have arrested two members of the jirga and are searching for other members.
Police officer Mehr Riaz Hussain said that the woman got pregnant with her neighbor Noor Shah after having an extramarital affair and ran away with him. He said that some people of the village caught Shah and brought him back in June last year. Shah was later sentenced to death and executed.
The police official said that the woman was later arrested and the jirga sentenced the woman to death by throwing stones after the birth of the child. A case has been registered against the members of the jirga under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code. Hussein said the woman had been provided security.
