New Delhi: Former Twitter CEO and co-founder Jack Dorsey has tweeted that Bitcoin will replace the US dollar in the future. This tweet was in response to a question asked by Grammy Award-winning rapper Cardi B on Twitter. Cardi B asked if you think crypto is going to replace the dollar? In response, Jack Dorsey said, “Sure, bitcoin will take its place.”

Following this tweet, the price of Bitcoin and Ether on CoinDesk registered a gain of 5.6 percent. At the time of writing the news (10 PM IST), Bitcoin was trading at $48,525 and Ethereum at $3,988.

The Twitter conversation between Cardi B and Jack Dorsey about cryptocurrencies instead of dollars drew massive reactions on the social media platform. Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus posted a meme about how Dogecoin is more stable than the US dollar, while bitcoin investor Dennis Porter said that This conversation was really such, which cannot be avoided.

Dorsey, the CEO of the digital payments company Square, has been a bitcoin superfan since 2018. Square recently changed its corporate name to Block. In August this year, Dorsey tweeted, “#Bitcoin will unite a vastly divided nation (and ultimately the world)”.

Parag Agarwal replaces Dorsey
The former Twitter boss stepped down from the CEO post in November and was replaced by Chief Technical Officer Parag Agarwal. During his tenure at Twitter, Jack Dorsey was instrumental in enabling bitcoin tipping on the platform and promised to add NFT authentication. The current CEO, Agarwal, is largely associated with the decentralized projects in Twitter.

In October, Dorsey said that Block would work on developing custom silicon and open-source bitcoin mining systems for individuals and businesses. Block has several projects focused on bitcoin.
