Budgam, J&K: In a heartbreaking incident, at least four Border Security Force (BSF) personnel lost their lives and nine others sustained injuries when their bus skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in Budgam district on Friday. The bus was transporting BSF jawans for election duty ahead of the second phase of assembly polls scheduled for September 25.
The accident occurred near Brel of Watarhaal, as confirmed by officials. The deceased personnel have been identified as Dayanand, Ram Ajadiya Singh, and Sukh Basi Lal. The injured, including six in critical condition, have been rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention. A civilian driver was also among the injured.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident to prevent such tragedies in the future. This incident underscores the risks faced by security personnel in the line of duty, especially during election periods in sensitive regions like Jammu and Kashmir.
