New Delhi: There may be light rain or drizzle in Delhi-NCR today i.e. on April 17. Along with this, the sky will be generally cloudy. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain with thunderstorms at many places in Delhi-NCR and western Uttar Pradesh from today till April 20. While the weather is likely to remain generally dry in eastern UP. The IMD has predicted light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning over the western Himalayan regions and adjoining plains during the next 4 days.
According to IMD, heavy rains are expected in Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh on the 18th. It may rain in Himachal Pradesh on 18 and 19 and in Uttarakhand on 19 April. Along with this, hail may fall at many places in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh today. There is a possibility of hailstorms in Himachal Pradesh from 17 to 18 April and in Uttarakhand from 18 to 20 April. There is a possibility of rain in some parts of Maharashtra in the next 4 days.
According to IMD, the maximum temperature has reached 40-42 degrees Celsius in many parts of the plains of northwest India, and central and eastern India. For the last 6 days, Gangetic West Bengal, for the last 4 days in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and for the last 2 days, heat wave conditions have prevailed in different areas of Bihar. Due to the scorching heat, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced the closure of all schools and colleges in the state this week. IMD has issued Orange Alert in West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh regarding the heat wave. On April 17, heat wave conditions may prevail in different parts of Punjab and Haryana. Yellow Watch has been issued regarding this. There is a possibility of a heat wave in different areas of western Madhya Pradesh on 17 and 18 April. No significant weather activity is expected over the rest of the country.
