Howrah: Three Jharkhand Congress MLAs arrested with a huge amount of cash in West Bengal were sent to 10-day police remand by the Howrah Sessions Court on Sunday. The MLAs include Irfan Ansari from Jamtara, Rajesh Kachhap from Khijri and Naman Bixal Kongari from Kolebira. Let us inform you that about 50 lakh rupees were found in the vehicle in which the MLA was traveling.
The above three MLAs were first taken for medical examination and then produced in court. The three Congress MLAs have been taken to Bhabni Bhavan for questioning. A case has been registered against him under sections 420 (cheating), 120 B (criminal conspiracy), and 171 E (bribery) at Panchala police station.
In this case, public prosecutor Taragati Ghatak said, “The five accused were produced in the court. The court after hearing both sides rejected the bail application and our prayer for 10 days police remand was considered. The CID has taken over the investigation.”
At the same time, Sayak Mitra, counsel for the MLAs said, “The CID charged them under the Prevention of Corruption Act, we questioned the applicability of these charges, the court rejected the bail plea. He has been sent on 10-day police remand. We have presented our arguments in court.”
It is worth mentioning that former Jharkhand Congress working president and MLA Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachhap, and Naman Bixal were detained by the rural Howrah police on Saturday evening with lakhs of rupees in cash on the Kongari National Highway-16. They were arrested today after the MLAs failed to give an account of the cash recovered with them.
On the other hand, Jharkhand in charge of the party in New Delhi, Avinash Pandey told that the Congress President has expelled these three MLAs from the party with immediate effect for their actions.
