Mumbai: Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chairman Prasoon Joshi on the recent controversy over the song ‘Besharam Rang…’ from Shah Rukh Khan’s forthcoming film Pathan, releasing on January 25. ) has issued a statement. He said that to calm all the questions related to the film Pathan, let me tell you that the film had recently reached the CBFC Examination Committee for certification and had gone through a rigorous screening process. According to Prasoon Joshi, the CBFC Examination Committee has directed the makers of ‘Pathan’ to implement the suggested changes including the controversial song and other changes in the film, and submit the revised version to the CBFC before its theatrical release.
Censor Board Chairman Prasoon Joshi said in his statement, “The CBFC has always been committed to striking the right balance between creative expression and audience sensitivity and believes that through meaningful dialogue between all stakeholders, any solution to the dispute can be found. While the suggested changes are being worked out, I would like to point out that our culture and beliefs are glorious, complex and nuanced. We have to pay attention that it should not be defined through any anecdote, which diverts attention from the truth and reality. As I said earlier that it is very important to maintain the trust between the creators and the audience. Creators should work in this direction.
