New Delhi: According to an official of the Ministry of Coal, due to this strike, the states may suffer a loss of Rs 319 crore in revenue. In this, Odisha is estimated to suffer a maximum loss of about Rs 70 crore. Apart from this, Chhattisgarh is estimated to lose Rs 66 crore, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand Rs 61-61 crore, Maharashtra Rs 27 crore, West Bengal Rs 23 crore and Uttar Pradesh Rs 11 crore.

The official said that Coal India produces an average of 1.5 million tonnes of coal per day. With this, the revenue of about 106 crores goes to the state treasury. Coal Minister Prahlad Joshi had informed Parliament in December that the government had collected Rs 2.03 lakh crore in revenue from Coal India from 2013-14 to 2018-19. Of the total revenue received, a maximum of Rs 44,826.43 crore was received in 2018-19. Earlier, in 2017-18, revenue of Rs 44,046.57 crore while in 2019-20, revenue of Rs 44,068.28 crore. Similarly, the government received revenue of Rs 29,084.11 crores from Coal India in 2015-16, Rs 21,482.21 crore in 2014-15, and Rs 19,713.52 crore in 2013-14.
