Varanasi: The issue of women’s safety continues to escalate, with daily reports of rape and molestation highlighting the increasing brutality women face, both at home and in the workplace. A recent incident at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi has brought this issue into sharp focus once again.
Disturbing Incident on Board
In a shocking turn of events, a female crew member was molested by a passenger on an Air India Express flight ready for takeoff. The incident occurred when Mohammed Adnan, a resident of Telangana, inappropriately touched the crew member. The crew member, initially stunned, quickly informed her colleagues, escalating the matter to airline officials.
Immediate Response and Chaos
Air India Express security in-charge Shrikant Tiwari, along with Quick Response Team (QRT) personnel, arrived promptly to handle the situation. However, when they attempted to deboard Adnan, he created a commotion, resisting their efforts. Despite the chaos, the team managed to remove him from the plane and handed him over to the police. This disruption caused a delay of over an hour for the flight’s departure.
Police Investigation Underway
Adnan, who had boarded flight IX 1171 to Hyderabad, was taken into custody by the police from Phulpur police station. According to Phulpur police station in-charge Praveen Kumar Singh, Adnan had traveled to Azamgarh to meet an acquaintance and was returning to Hyderabad when the incident occurred. The police are currently interrogating him to gather more information about the case.
