Islamabad: Most of the provinces, including Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, opened their educational institutions on Monday after a drop in the cases of coronavirus infection in Pakistan. The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), the country’s main monitoring organization for the war against Covid-19, initially allowed educational institutions to open from May 24 in all those districts where the infection rate is less than five percent. . It had extended the deadline to open educational institutions in the rest of the country till June 7.
“Educational institutions in Pakistan have reopened from Monday as the country has reported fewer cases recently,” a government statement said. According to the Express Tribune news, Punjab has opened all its educational institutions but Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have opened schools for classes IX and above. According to this newspaper, Sindh has decided not to open its primary schools and wait for some further reduction in the pace of this epidemic.
Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani said the decision would be reconsidered once the pandemic situation improves. According to the Ministry of National Health Services, 58 people have lost their lives due to Covid in the last 24 hours, with which 21,323 people have lost their lives due to this epidemic in the country so far. Along with this, 1490 new cases of this infection were reported in the country and the total cases increased to 933,630. At present 47,376 patients are under treatment and 864,931 patients have become infection-free.
