New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday gave a statement on the impasse issued by China in the Rajya Sabha during the budget session of Parliament. The defense minister’s statement came at a time when China claimed that disengagement has started from parts of the Line of Actual Control. In the Rajya Sabha, Rajnath informed the House that in this conversation we have not lost anything. Both sides agree to complete disengagement.
Rajnath said, ‘LAC has many areas in eastern Ladakh. China has gathered huge force and arms and ammunition from its side in LAC and nearby areas. Our forces have also deployed the counter adequately and effectively. He said, ‘We have started talks on the north-south shore of Pangong Lake. Some deployment issues on the LAC have not been resolved yet. Both sides agreed that complete disengagement will be done as soon as possible.
Agreement on Disengagement on the north and south banks of Pangong Lake
The Defense Minister said, “Due to our continuous dialogue with China, the agreement has been reached on the north and south banks of Pangong Lake. After this agreement, India-China will remove further deployments in a phased manner. Rajnath said that China should be aware that the relationship between the two countries rests on three important threads. First- LAC should be considered and respected by both the parties, second- neither side should try unilateral change, and third- all agreements should be fully adhered to by both parties.
Rajnath said in the Rajya Sabha about the deadlock that has been going on for 10 months, we are committed to maintain a peaceful position on the Line of Control. India always insisted on maintaining bilateral relations. He said that India has always told China that bilateral relations can be improved only with the efforts of both countries. An adverse situation in any kind of peace and stability on the LAC also affects our relationships. The Defense Minister made it clear that there should be disengagement at all section points of LAC so that peace and stability can be restored.
