The medical fraternity and the political landscape of Uttar Pradesh were shaken on Wednesday morning by the sudden passing of Prateek Yadav, the younger son of late Mulayam Singh Yadav and half-brother of SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav. The 38-year-old fitness entrepreneur was brought to the Civil Hospital in Lucknow in the early hours, but despite immediate medical attention, doctors confirmed he had no pulse upon arrival.

The post-mortem report, released later on Wednesday, provided definitive clarity on the tragic event. According to the medical team at KGMU, the cause of death was a “cardiorespiratory collapse” triggered by a “massive pulmonary thromboembolism.” This condition occurs when a blood clot blocks the arteries in the lungs, abruptly halting the heart’s ability to function and cutting off the respiratory system.

Autopsy Details and Forensic Analysis

The autopsy, which was conducted under tight security and videography surveillance, revealed that blood clots had formed at multiple locations throughout the body. While the primary blockage was in the pulmonary veins, the report also documented six antemortem injuries, meaning these marks were sustained while he was still alive. These included minor injuries to the chest, right arm, and elbow.

To ensure a comprehensive investigation, forensic experts have preserved the “whole heart and pulmonary thromboembolic material” in formalin for histopathological examination. Additionally, his viscera have been handed over to the civil police for detailed chemical analysis to rule out any other underlying factors.

A Life Away from the Political Spotlight

Prateek Yadav, brother of SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav and younger son of party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, was a notable figure in Lucknow’s business and fitness circles. An alumnus of the University of Leeds, UK, he managed high-end fitness ventures, including the gym “Iron Core Fit,” and was deeply involved in animal welfare through his organization, “Jeev Ashray.”

His wife, Aparna Yadav, is a prominent BJP leader and currently serves as the Vice-Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Women’s Commission. Despite his family’s deep political roots, Prateek consistently chose to focus on his real estate and fitness interests, staying largely away from the electoral arena.

Akhilesh Yadav Pays Tribute

Upon hearing the news, Akhilesh Yadav rushed to the KGMU post-mortem house to meet with doctors and offer support to the family. Speaking to reporters outside the facility, the SP Chief recalled his brother as a “very good boy” who was always conscious of his health.

“I have seen him since childhood. Unfortunately, he is no longer with us today,” Akhilesh said. He further hinted at the pressures of the modern business world, noting that “financial losses in business can sometimes affect a person mentally,” while urging others to remain mindful of their health and stress levels.

The mortal remains have since been brought to his Lucknow residence, where leaders across party lines, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, have expressed their deep condolences to the bereaved family.
