The army issued a statement
A statement issued by the army said that the army chief has asked the Karachi Corps commander to investigate the incident immediately and submit the report as soon as possible. The statement, however, did not clarify what incident he asked to be investigated, but, before that, Pakistan People’s Party President Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had asked the administration to investigate the incidents related to Safdar’s arrest.
Safdar and his wife PML-Nawaz Vice President Maryam Nawaz came to Karachi to participate in the rally of Pakistan Democratic Movement. Meanwhile, Safdar was arrested from his hotel room. However, he was soon released on bail. While speaking to reporters, Bilawal had said that all the top officials of Sindh police were surprised as to who were the people who surrounded the police chief’s house and took him to an undisclosed location before Safdar’s arrest.
