Anandiben sworn in as Governor of Madhya Pradesh


Bhopal: Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel took oath as the Governor of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. She will be the Governor in charge of Madhya Pradesh. Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court Ajay Kumar Mittal administered the oath of office to Governor Anandiben at a simple ceremony held at Raj Bhavan here at 4.30 pm.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, some politicians and senior officials of the state were present on the occasion. Anandiben Patel has been given the additional charge of the Governor of Madhya Pradesh on 28 June. She reached Bhopal on Wednesday afternoon. It is known that the Governor of Madhya Pradesh Lalji Tandon is undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Lucknow, the capital of his home state Uttar Pradesh, and during Tandon’s absence, Anandiben will discharge the functions of the Governor of Madhya Pradesh.

Anandiben has also been the Governor of Madhya Pradesh earlier. She was the Governor of Madhya Pradesh from 23 January 2018 to 28 July 2019 before becoming the Governor of Uttar Pradesh. The much awaited expansion of the cabinet of the state BJP government led by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan is yet to be done in Madhya Pradesh and she will administer the oath to the new ministers tomorrow.
