New Delhi: Toyota India is all set to announce the pricing of the ninth-generation Toyota Camry on December 11. The globally debuted sedan, unveiled in late 2023, promises a bold redesign, advanced features, and an efficient petrol-hybrid powertrain. This latest model will replace the outgoing Camry, which was introduced in India in 2019 and received a mid-life facelift in 2022.
Dynamic New Design Inspired by Lexus Aesthetics
The 2024 Camry retains its roots with the tried-and-tested TNGA-K platform but arrives with a stunningly revamped exterior. This platform, shared across Toyota and Lexus vehicles worldwide, ensures the Camry continues to deliver solid performance and versatility.
The new Camry is slightly longer than its predecessor but maintains the same wheelbase, emphasizing passenger comfort. The front fascia borrows heavily from Lexus design cues, featuring an anvil-shaped chin and sleek, compact headlight pods with modern LED Daytime Running Lights. The car’s sides showcase bold character lines, while the rear boasts stylish ‘C’-shaped taillights, adding to its premium appeal.
Tech-Loaded Interior for Enhanced Comfort
Inside, the Camry undergoes a transformative update with a sophisticated dashboard layout and dual digital displays. A 7-inch digital instrument cluster complements the centerpiece a floating 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Buyers can expect high-end features like a JBL sound system, heads-up display, digital key, and more, making the Camry a tech-forward offering in its segment.
Designed with chauffeur-driven buyers in mind, especially in the Indian market, the rear seat features a recline function, ventilation, and controls for blinds and other amenities strategically placed between the seats.
Toyota has also prioritized safety, equipping the new Camry with its signature Toyota Safety Sense suite. Key ADAS features include:
- Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with curve speed reduction.
- Lane Departure Alert with steering assist.
- Pre-Collision Braking System for added peace of mind.
Powertrain and Efficiency: A Leap Ahead
Under the hood, the Camry is powered by a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine paired with two electric motors. Together, they deliver a combined output of 227hp, offering robust performance and excellent fuel efficiency. With an eCVT gearbox handling the shifts, the new hybrid powertrain is expected to deliver a claimed mileage of 25kpl, a significant improvement over the outgoing model’s 19.1kpl.
Locally Assembled for the Indian Market
The new Camry will be assembled at Toyota’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka using imported kits, showcasing Toyota’s commitment to the Indian market. While pricing will be announced in December, deliveries are expected to begin in early 2025. The car will also make a grand appearance at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025, giving enthusiasts a chance to experience its features firsthand.
Toyota’s ninth-gen Camry promises to set a new benchmark in the premium sedan segment with its refined design, advanced features, and cutting-edge hybrid technology, making it a top choice for discerning Indian buyers.
