New Delhi: Following the recent disturbances and paper leak in the NEET UG exam 2024, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) has also faced a setback. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in a press release, announced the postponement of the NEET PG 2024 examinations as a precautionary measure.
1. Postponement Decision:
- The Ministry of Health, in light of allegations questioning the integrity of competitive examinations, has taken a proactive step. A comprehensive analysis of the robustness of the NEET-PG entrance examination process, conducted by the National Board of Examinations for medical students, is deemed necessary.
- The NEET PG exam, originally scheduled for tomorrow, June 23, 2024, will now be rescheduled. The new dates will be announced promptly to minimize inconvenience to students.
2. Maintaining Sanctity:
- The Union Health Ministry expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to students. The decision to postpone the NEET PG exam was made in the best interest of students and to uphold the sanctity of the examination process.
- Notably, the NEET PG exam is administered by the National Board of Examination for Medical Sciences, which plays a crucial role in medical education and assessment.
3. Computer-Based Test (CBT) Mode:
- Dr. Rakesh Sharma, President of NBEMS, reassured the nation that the hopes of aspiring doctors would not wane. The NEET PG exam will be conducted nationwide through a computer-based test (CBT) mode, ensuring fairness and efficiency.
4. Participation Statistics:
- Over 2,28,757 candidates were set to appear for the NEET PG 2024 exam across 292 cities. Among them, 1,05,791 were female candidates, 1,22,961 were male candidates and five transgenders. The exam included 223 foreign nationals, 195 non-Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), and 119 Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).
The Ministry’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of medical entrance exams remains unwavering.
