Washington: Niraj Antani has become the first Indian-American to be elected to the Senate from Ohio. Antony defeated Democratic Party candidate Mark Fogel on Tuesday. After taking the oath, he will become the first Indian-American to become a senator from Ohio.
“I am very grateful for the continued support of the community in which I was born and raised,” said Antony. Antony, a 24-year-old graduate in political science, was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 2014.
“As a senator, I will work hard every day to give the people of Ohio a chance to make their American dream come true,” Antony said. Antony’s parents came to America in 1987.
