India’s largest airline, IndiGo Airlines, has issued a fresh advisory on Wednesday in light of the severe weather conditions. The airline informed passengers via social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that flight operations are likely to be disrupted due to congestion in air traffic and heavy rainfall in Mumbai.

“While we want your journey to be hassle-free, nature has its own plans. With heavy rains expected again, delays and operational challenges are likely,” IndiGo stated.

Passengers are being strongly advised to check their flight status on the IndiGo mobile app or official website before leaving for the airport.

Travel Guidelines from IndiGo for Flyers

  • Leave early for the airport due to road waterlogging and traffic congestion.
  • Check flight status online regularly before heading to the airport.
  • Update registered contact details to receive real-time SMS and email alerts.
  • Carry essentials as longer waiting periods at the airport are likely.

IMD Weather Forecast: Heavy Showers Till August 21

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh warning predicting:

  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai and Konkan belt till August 21.
  • Extremely heavy showers expected in ghat regions of Madhya Maharashtra.
  • Risk of localized flooding, traffic delays, and further disruption of air services.

The IMD has also advised Mumbaikars to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay updated with official alerts.

Flight Delays Likely to Continue

Earlier in the day, IndiGo had already cautioned passengers about possible delays in arrivals and departures of multiple flights. Other airlines have also privately indicated that they are monitoring the situation closely as conditions remain volatile.

With rains predicted to continue for the next two days, air travelers are urged to plan journeys with additional buffer time and stay prepared for sudden schedule changes.
