
New Delhi: The United Front of Central Trade Unions has called for a nationwide bandh on March 28 and 29 against the policies of the Central Government. Due to this, the banking service was affected on Monday. Due to the shutdown on Tuesday also, the work related to the bank may come to a standstill. Because All India Bank Employees Union is also giving its support to Bharat Bandh. Apart from this, rail services have also been affected.
Especially in West Bengal, trade unions belonging to Left parties blocked railway tracks. The members of the Left Trade Unions staged a protest on the track at Jadavpur railway station. Due to this, the operation of trains came to a halt and the passengers had to face a lot of trouble. However, the Mamata Banerjee government has opposed the Bharat Bandh and ordered all its employees to be on duty compulsorily.
Traffic jams were witnessed in many cities of West Bengal and Kerala, states dominated by Left parties. Trade unions are demanding an immediate change of some policies of the central government. Their major demands include abolishing the labor code, immediately stopping any kind of privatization, dismantling the National Monetization Pipeline (NMP), increasing the days of wage allocation under MGNREGA, regularizing contract workers, etc.

Common citizens will have trouble for two days due to Bharat Bandh
Common citizens may have to face problems on 28 and 29 March due to Bharat Bandh. Banking services will be affected due to the shutdown. Railway services in many states will also be affected due to the protest by landing on the track. Citizens may face traffic jams in major cities. However, government offices will open. Most of the state governments of the country are opposing this Bharat Bandh of trade unions.
Banking services will remain affected during the two-day Bharat Bandh
Banking unions are participating in this strike in protest against the government’s plan for privatization of public sector banks as well as the Banking Laws Amendment Bill 2021. Several other banks, including State Bank of India and Punjab National Bank, have issued statements informing their customers that banking services will remain affected on Monday and Tuesday. Employees in sectors like postal, income tax, copper, and insurance are also participating in the strike. Therefore, there is a strong possibility of services related to these areas being affected today and tomorrow.
Transport services may remain affected on March 28 and 29
Employees of roadways, transport, and electricity departments are also a part of this strike. Therefore, for the next two days, there will be an effect of Bharat Bandh on these services as well. Along with this, some unions related to the railway and defense sector can also take to the streets in support of the bandh. In such a situation, railway service will also be affected. The Ministry of Power has asked all government companies and other agencies to be on high alert. The ministry has issued an advisory to all states to ensure an uninterrupted power supply for essential services like hospitals, defense, and railways.
Congress party has given support to the Bharat Bandh of trade unions
The two-day Bharat Bandh has received support from the All India Unorganized Workers and Employees Congress. It has been said from Congress that Rahul Gandhi has been speaking in favor of the demands of the sections involved in the bandh. At the same time, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh has announced that it will not participate in this strike. BMS has described this Bharat Bandh as politically motivated, whose purpose is to advance the agenda of selected political parties.
The country’s largest labor organization opposed the Bharat Bandh
Let us tell you that the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh is the largest central labor organization in India. It was established in Bhopal by the great thinker Dattopant Thengdi on 23 July 1955, the birth anniversary of the eminent freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak. BMS claims that it has more than 1 crore members. This is the first labor organization of the country, which is not a labor union of any political party, but an independent labor organization of the workers, for the workers, run by the workers.
