Toronto: Canada’s newly sworn-in Prime Minister, Mark Carney, has unveiled his cabinet, featuring two prominent Indian-origin leaders Anita Anand and Kamal Khera. Anita Anand: A Seasoned Leader

Anita Anand, 58, has been appointed as Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry. Anand was first elected as Member of Parliament for Oakville in 2019 and has held significant roles under Trudeau’s administration, including President of the Treasury Board and Minister of National Defence. Known for her academic prowess, she has worked as a lawyer, researcher, and professor at institutions like the University of Toronto and Yale Law School. Anand expressed pride in her new role, stating on social media that her focus will be on building a strong Canadian economy for the future.

Kamal Khera: A Trailblazer in Healthcare

Delhi-born Kamal Khera, 36, has made history as Canada’s new Health Minister. She immigrated to Canada during her school years and later earned a nursing degree from York University. Before entering politics in 2015 as MP for Brampton West, Khera worked as a registered nurse specializing in oncology care. Her healthcare background positions her to tackle pressing issues like improving medical access and public health infrastructure. Khera shared her commitment to patient care on social media, promising to bring the same dedication to her ministerial role.

Mark Carney’s Vision

Carney’s cabinet comprises 24 members 13 men and 11 women making it smaller but more focused than Trudeau’s team. In his inaugural speech, Carney emphasized unity and economic resilience amidst ongoing trade conflicts with the United States.
