Mohali: The world’s largest lamp has been lit in Mohali, Punjab to give a message of global peace. The organizers of the event claimed. Organizers said more than 10,000 people provided oil for the event that concluded with a world record. To convey the message of world peace, unity, secularism, and humanism, the world’s largest lamp with a diameter of 3.37 meters, made of about 1,000 kg of steel, was lit by Lt Gen (Retd) KJ Singh, the chief guest of the ceremony held on Saturday evening.

Over 10,000 people, including 4,000 residents of ‘Hero Homes’, representing the diverse fabric and diversity of Indian society, collected 3,129 liters of organic and lamp-appropriate oils for this unique symbol of peace. Hero Homes, which organizes the event at its premises, is a residential unit of Hero Realty Private Limited, the real estate arm of Hero Enterprise. Ashish Kaul, CMO, of Hero Realty said that the giant lamp was lit in the presence of officials of the Guinness Book of World Records to mark the festival of peace.

These officers were present at the Society of Hero Homes in Mohali to record this achievement. He said that according to the ‘Guinness Book of Records, this lamp was lit with 3,000 liters of cooking oil and it is the world’s largest oil lamp ever. “It is an unconventional event, with the twin intention of celebrating Diwali as per tradition and spreading an important social message,” said Lt Gen Singh.

Ashish Kaul, who came up with the idea of ​​the world’s largest lamp, said, “My roots are in Kashmir. For the past 32-33 years, I have been looking for a peaceful way back home. This is my journey, this is the journey of everyone who wants dignity, dignity cannot be found unless you have peace.

So, for me as a person, it has always been a search for peace, and what better opportunity to give the message of peace when I felt that Diwali is near? Kaul said, “We have seen so much bloodshed in Kashmir, we see war in Ukraine, so I thought the true message of Diwali is to celebrate peace and it is the biggest festival of peace. Therefore, this lamp is the biggest source of inspiration for global peace.”
