Mogadishu (Somalia): At least ten people were killed and more than a dozen injured in a Sunday attack on a beachfront hotel in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. An encounter between security forces and Islamic extremists continues at the scene. A police officer gave this information. Information Ministry spokesman Ismail Mukhtar said that security forces have so far killed two attackers inside the hotel. The hostage crisis continues inside the complex right now. The armored armies of the army are set up around this hotel.

Officers are feared to have prolonged encounters as it is a dark night. Police officer Capt. Mohammad Hussain said a car bomb exploded at the security gate of the Elite Hotel. After the explosion, the gunmen entered and took the people present there as hostages. He said that the security forces rescued ten people and their efforts were that the attackers could not reach the floor above the hotel.
