New Delhi: Samsung is reportedly gearing up to bring its advanced Galaxy AI features to its popular mid-range smartphone lineup, the Galaxy A-Series. Following the successful introduction of AI capabilities, including the Circle to Search feature, with its flagship Galaxy S24 series earlier this year, the South Korean tech giant is now extending these innovations to more affordable models. The AI features are expected to roll out to the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 soon, although some high-end functionalities may be excluded due to hardware constraints.

AI Features with Limitations: What to Expect
According to a report by Sammobile, while the Galaxy A55 and A35 will benefit from Samsung’s AI advancements, they won’t receive the full suite of features available on the more powerful S and Z series devices. This is largely due to the absence of a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) in the A-series models, which limits their ability to handle resource-intensive tasks.

For instance, features like Instant Slow-Mo, which require significant NPU and GPU capabilities to achieve a processing speed of 16.6 milliseconds for 60fps video, are unlikely to be included in the A-series update. This limitation was similarly observed with the Galaxy S24 FE, which also missed out on certain AI features despite its inclusion in the flagship lineup.

Timing of the Update: One UI 6.1.1 Expected to Deliver AI to A-Series
Samsung has not yet confirmed a specific timeline for when these AI features will become available on the Galaxy A55 and A35. However, it is anticipated that the rollout will coincide with the release of the One UI 6.1.1 update, which is expected to arrive on these devices either this month or next. This update could bring a blend of enhanced AI-driven functionalities that elevate the user experience, though details on the exact features are still under wraps.

Galaxy A55 and A35: Mid-Range Contenders with Growing AI Capabilities
Launched in March 2024, the Galaxy A55 and A35 5G models have already made their mark in the mid-range market. The Galaxy A35 5G is available in two configurations 8GB RAM paired with either 128GB or 256GB of storage while the Galaxy A55 5G offers an additional option with 12GB RAM. As competition in the mid-range segment heats up, with rivals like the Realme 13 Pro Plus, OnePlus Nord 4, and Oppo Reno 12 Pro integrating AI primarily into their camera and editing features, Samsung’s move to expand its AI offerings is seen as a strategic push to maintain its edge.

As Samsung continues to democratize its AI technology, the upcoming updates to the Galaxy A-Series could provide users with a more intelligent and intuitive smartphone experience, even within the constraints of mid-range hardware.
