Bengaluru: Devon Conway’s 45-ball 83 and Shivam Dube’s 27-ball 52 helped Chennai Super Kings beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by eight runs in an IPL match on Monday. RCB captain Faf du Plessis’s decision to bowl first was proved wrong by the Chennai batsmen and scored 226 runs for six wickets. In response, RCB could only manage 218 runs for eight wickets. RCB captain du Plessis tried to change the map of the match by scoring 62 runs in 33 balls and Glenn Maxwell scored 76 runs in 36 balls. Both had raised hopes of victory by adding 126 runs for the third wicket.

RCB got off to a bad start and in-form Virat Kohli was sent to the pavilion by Akash Singh. Mahipal Lomror also got out without opening the account. After this, Maxwell opened his hands by hitting Akash for two sixes in the next over. Duplesey also hit Tushar Deshpande for two fours and a six. In the next over of Akash, Duplesey hit two fours and a six. Duplessi completed his half-century in 23 balls and Maxwell in 24 balls.

RCB’s score was 121 for two after ten overs. Mahish Teekshana, however, ended the partnership by getting Maxwell caught at the hands of MS Dhoni. In the next over, Duplessi also caught Dhoni off the bowling of Moeen Ali. RCB needed 58 runs in the last five overs and experienced Dinesh Karthik was at the crease but Deshpande ended RCB’s hopes by dismissing him. Earlier, Chennai made an aggressive start and Conway hit Wayne Parnell for a four-over mid-wicket in the second over itself and hit a six three balls later. Ruturaj Gaikwad returned in the third over by catching Parnell off Mohammad Siraj.

Conway continued the scoring from the other end, hitting Vijaykumar Visakh for a four. On the next ball, Ajinkya Rahane took four runs on the hook shot. Rahane scored 37 runs in 20 balls. He scored 15 runs in the sixth over by hitting Parnell for two fours and a six. Conway hit a four as soon as Glenn Maxwell came to bowl in the seventh over. Rahane and Conway hit a four or a six in almost every over. Conway hit Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva for a lofted six over midwicket in the tenth over.

The Sri Lankan bowler, however, broke this dangerous partnership and sent Rahane to the pavilion. Conway completed his second consecutive half-century by taking two runs in the same over. The New Zealand batsman then hit Hasaranga for a four to take Chennai to 97 for two in ten overs. Shivam Dubey hit Maxwell for a six as soon as he arrived while Conway hit Vijaykumar for two consecutive fours.

Dubey hit Harshal Patel for a six over long-on and hit Siraj for a four over mid-wicket. After this, hit a six over the square leg. Chennai’s score was 165 for two after 15 overs. Conway was dismissed by Patel in the 16th over. He shared 74 runs with Rahane and 80 runs with Dubey. Dubey completed his half-century by hitting Parnell for a six but then lost the wicket.
