Draft rules issued to show fitness certificates, registration marks on vehicles

New Delhi: Vehicles in the country will now have to display the fitness certificate and the registration mark of the motor vehicle on the vehicles in the prescribed manner. This information was given by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in a draft notification issued on Thursday.

In the case of heavy goods/passenger vehicles, medium goods/passenger vehicles, and light motor vehicles, the fitness certificate and registration mark will have to be displayed on the upper edge of the left-hand side of the ‘wind screen’, the ministry said in a statement. The same auto-rickshaw, e-rickshaw, e-kart, and quadric cycle will have to be mounted on the upper edge of the left side of the windscreen if it is properly fitted.

Apart from this, in the case of a motorcycle, it will be displayed on a clearly visible part of the vehicle. According to the ministry, it will be shown in ‘Aerial Bold Script’ in yellow on a blue background.
