According to Bloomberg News, in a screenshot posted on Weibo (a Chinese social media platform), a resident shared a text message from his neighbor, in which the neighbor told his friend that he was forced to leave due to the increase in the cost of funerals. Notably, an expert has claimed that more than 70 percent of the population in Shanghai is already infected with Covid amid a massive surge in cases in China. China has seen a huge jump in Covid cases since the strict zero-covid policy was relaxed last month. A report by London-based analytics firm Airfinity claimed that more than 250 million people in China were infected with the virus in the first 20 days of December.
