About the CLAT 2024 exam
The CLAT 2024 exam was conducted on December 3 in an online mode at various centres across the country. The exam was of two hours duration and consisted of 120 multiple-choice questions from five sections — English Language, Current Affairs, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques. The exam had a total of 120 marks, with one mark for each correct answer and 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer.

The Consortium released the provisional answer key of the CLAT 2024 exam on December 4 and invited objections from the candidates till December 5. The final answer key was released on December 9, after considering the valid objections. The final answer key had two questions deleted — one from the Legal Reasoning section and one from the English Language section. Therefore, the candidates scored out of 118 marks instead of 120 marks.

CLAT 2024 results

The Consortium also revised the syllabus and pattern of the CLAT 2024 exam, as per the recommendations of the CNLU. The exam had fewer questions and more comprehension-based questions than the previous years. The revision aimed to test the aptitude and skills of the candidates rather than their memory and knowledge.

The CLAT is a national-level entrance exam for admission to the five-year integrated undergraduate and one-year postgraduate law programmes offered by the NLUs and other associate institutions. The exam is conducted every year by the Consortium of NLUs, which is a body of 23 NLUs that have joined together to ensure the quality and standard of legal education in the country. The CLAT 2024 scores will be valid for admission to the law programmes starting from the academic year 2024-25.
