New Delhi: The anger of the wrestlers against the President of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and BJP MP (BJP MP) Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh does not seem to subside. On Sunday, on the occasion of the inauguration of the new Parliament House, the wrestlers marched towards the new Parliament House to perform. But the protesting wrestlers and their supporters were stopped by the police by barricading them far away. The protesting wrestlers and supporters were adamant about moving forward. There was a scuffle between Delhi Police personnel and wrestlers regarding this.
Women and men personnel deployed in large numbers detained around 700 people from different parts of Delhi along with Jantar Mantar. In which wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, etc. are prominently included. After this, on the tents, mattresses, mats, coolers, and speakers removed from Jantar Mantar, the wrestlers say that the movement is not over yet, they will resume their protest in the form of ‘Satyagraha’ after being released.

On Sunday, the Delhi Police took possession of all the goods and materials being used in the demonstration from the agitation site by loading them in tempos and trucks. Since then, Jantar Mantar, the picket site, has been cleaned again. The police took the protesting wrestlers into custody when they were determined to march towards the new Parliament House even after being refused. The protesting wrestlers also organized a Mahila Mahapanchayat outside the new Parliament House. But the police destroyed all this.
At the same time, the police officers are talking about ending the movement after uprooting the tents from Jantar Mantar and removing other items. On the other hand, the wrestlers said that they would resume their agitation against BJP MP and Wrestling Federation of India President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over allegations of sexual harassment.
According to the New Delhi District DCP, more than 500 women police personnel and 1,400 male personnel were deployed on Sunday to maintain the security system during the day. Altogether 700 wrestlers were detained in different police stations while women wrestlers were released around 7 pm. Students, activists, farmers, and trade union leaders are prominently involved in more than 550 protesters taken into custody.
Dipendra Pathak, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) of Delhi Police, says that what the wrestlers did was extremely irresponsible. Now they will not be allowed to protest. They were told not to move (from the protest site) but they ignored it. More than 8-9 policemen have been injured. The protesting wrestlers have broken the law and indulged in anti-national activities. The police have cleared the entire protest site.
Delhi Police booked wrestlers and organizers at Parliament Street Police Station under various sections 147, 149, 186, 188, 332, and 353 of IPC for rioting, unlawful assembly, and obstructing police on duty. A case has been registered under Section 3 of the PDPP Act.
After this, in the evening, female wrestler Sakshi Malik tweeted that the protest is not over. After being released from police custody, he will start his Satyagraha again at Jantar Mantar. Now women wrestlers will have satyagraha… not a dictatorship. Another wrestler said that we will not give up. The police can remove the goods, not us.
Police sources say that the protesters were detained from different police stations – Kalkaji, Mayur Vihar, Malviya Nagar, Burari, and Najafgarh, etc., so they could not assemble in the New Delhi area after being released. The police have also registered a case against the wrestlers. The police have made it clear that if he returns again, strict action will be taken. They broke the law and assaulted the police personnel.
