Islamabad: The Pakistan government on Tuesday proposed a motion in Parliament to quash all cases filed against the French diplomat, expelled, and banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik. declare. The agreement came after long talks with the radical Islamic party of the Government of Pakistan. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said in a video statement, “The proposal will be tabled in the National Assembly on Tuesday for the expulsion of the French ambassador under lengthy negotiations with the TLP and the agreement reached with it.”
Rashid said that the cases of terrorism charges filed against TLP activists would be withdrawn. Apart from this, the names of TLP leaders will also be removed from the fourth schedule. The removal of the French ambassador is one of the four major demands of the TLP. He was banned last week after party members staged anti-French protests across the country. On Monday, the session of the National Assembly was postponed until 22 April.
However, shortly after the minister’s statement, it was announced that the program had been changed and the session would now be held on April 20 from 3 pm. Rashid said that the TLP has decided to end its sit-in at Lahore and other places in the country. He said that further talks with the party will continue.
The TLP gave the April 20 deadline to expel the French ambassador from Pakistan for carrying cartoons of Prophet Mohammed published in France. The party launched widespread protests against cartoons in November last year.
