Indore: The district administration has taken decisive action by sealing five nursing colleges in Indore following a directive from the High Court. The Revenue Department team swiftly executed the court’s orders after pasting notices at the colleges. Here are the details:

  1. Verma Union Nursing College: Located near Gangwal Bus Stand, this college was among those sealed by the administration.
  2. Jagadguru Dattatraya College of Nursing: Situated in the village of Sinhasa, this college also faced closure.
  3. Rai Academy Nursing College: Found in Malharganj, this institution was part of the sealing operation.
  4. Rutunjaya School of Nursing: Located in Naita Mundla, this nursing school was sealed.
  5. Devi Ahilya Nursing College and Associate Hospital: Situated in the Sanwer area, this college faced the same fate.

Relief for Students:
The High Court’s order provides relief to students currently enrolled in these colleges. Despite the recognition termination, students are allowed to appear in the upcoming examination. However, this permission is granted only once, and it applies to all students, even those who haven’t filed a petition.

Background:
The situation arose due to a surge in nursing colleges in the state. Until 2019, there were 450 registered nursing colleges. However, between 2020 and 2022, an additional 200 colleges were established. Unfortunately, doubts emerged regarding the legitimacy of some institutions, leading to an investigation.

CBI Investigation:
The High Court entrusted the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). After thorough scrutiny, the CBI categorized 169 nursing colleges as suitable, while 66 were deemed unstable. An additional 75 colleges were declared unsuitable, highlighting the need for stringent measures to maintain educational standards.

The sealing of these colleges aims to address the recognition controversy and ensure the quality of nursing education in the region. Students’ interests remain a priority, as they are granted a unique opportunity to take their exams despite the recognition challenges.
