New Delhi: Recall the days when smartphones were not used and you used to have desktops that had dialup internet. The first thing that came to mind when you were a child was to create an email ID. Your first email will be on Gmail, Yahoo, MSN, or Rediff. One of them was common and that was the logo of the mail envelope.

For years, only logos were seen in Google’s Gmail, when you used to go to the menu and type www.gmail.com. Even after the app came, the logo used to look almost the same, but now it has changed. The iconic Gmail logo is being replaced with a design logo that looks similar to other Google products.

Gmail’s new logo is designed like M. It is filled with red, blue, yellow, green colors. It looks similar to other Google logos. This includes Google Maps, Google Photos, Chrome and other Google products. The old envelope logo has been said goodbye. Due to confusion with more colors, most users did not pay attention to it.

A report by Fast Company has revealed that Google considered dropping M completely or removing the red color of Gmail completely, but the people involved in research were not happy about it. However, the study helped Google realize that the Gmail logo envelope was not an important design.

This helped the team to experiment by filling the traditional colors by placing an M in the Google logo. Some other products of Google are also seen with such color pattern design logos. These include Google Drive, Google Calendar etc.
