Mumbai: People living in the country’s financial capital Mumbai have got a big gift from BEST. BEST Bus is going to run the country’s first electric AC double-decker bus on the roads of Mumbai. Till now you were seeing such buses running on the streets of cities like London and New York, but now after just 4 to 5 days you will see these buses running on the streets of Mumbai. Keeping in mind the safety of the passengers, many facilities have been provided in the bus.
Seat belts, CCTV, speakers all the facilities will be available inside the bus for the passengers. If we talk about the seating capacity, then 65 people can sit and travel in the bus at a time. Wherein 15 to 20 people can stand and travel.
Buses will run on battery
It has been claimed by Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) that this bus can be run for 120 to 140 kilometers once charged. It will be fully charged within 80 to 90 minutes. By the end of this month, 5 electric AC double-decker buses will be run at different places in Mumbai. By the end of March, 20 electric AC double-decker buses will be run on different routes. Switch Company has received an order from BEST to manufacture a total of 200 buses.
Target of 7 thousand buses
BEST currently has 3600 buses, which has a target of 7000 by the end of this year. In this, the number of BEST women’s special buses is going to be increased to 500, which are currently 136. To further reduce the transport deficit, BEST has set a target of making all buses tap-in-tap-out by next year. This means all the buses will be without conductors. BEST currently has 200 digital i.e. tap in-tap out buses.
