NEW DELHI: CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke has defended the peaceful nature of Indian protests, rejecting comparisons to violent regime change movements in Nepal and Bangladesh. In a video statement released on Tuesday, Dipke emphasized that the movement follows Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of non-violence. He said, ‘We have not chosen the path of violence,’ highlighting that jailed activists Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka went to jail peacefully, embodying Gandhian satyagraha.

Jail Extension for CJP Activists

Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were arrested on October 12 for entering Jantar Mantar in Delhi without permission. Their judicial custody was initially set for five days but has now been extended by two days until October 21. Despite the detention, Dipke urged supporters to remain calm and not let hatred take over.

French Protests Report and Political Reactions

Fox News Digital’s report on October 9 identified 50 organizations linked to French student protests, alleging that communist and socialist groups are using the movement for political agendas. In response to comparisons with foreign protests, Congress stated that Indian opposition movements are entirely peaceful and constitutional. The party described the protests as a movement for free and fair elections, countering BJP’s claims of an ‘anti-India group’ plotting to change power in India.

Call for Non-Violence and Continued Movement

Dipke emphasized that the detention of Das and Ranka would not break the movement’s morale. He stated, ‘If anyone thinks that putting Sourav and Ashutosh in jail will scare them or break them, it will never happen.’ The CJP leader reiterated that the activists would continue their peaceful protests upon release, chanting ‘Inqilab Zindabad’ and following the path of non-violence as practiced by Mahatma Gandhi.
