Bhopal: A CBI court here on Monday sentenced 31 people to rigorous imprisonment of seven to 10 years for cheating and dishonesty in the police constable recruitment examination conducted by the scam-infested Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (Vyapam) in 2013. Is. The mastermind of the scam has been sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment, while the other 30 accused convicted have been given seven years of rigorous imprisonment each. This is the first time that such a large number of people have been given jail terms for such a long period in the Vyapam scam.
Special Public Prosecutor for CBI, Satish Dinkar said, “Today in the case of Police Constable Recruitment Examination, 2013 conducted by Vyapam, Special CBI Judge SB Sahu sentenced Pradeep Tyagi (29) to 10 years rigorous imprisonment along with A fine of Rs 5,000 was also imposed. He said that the court found him guilty of rigging the exam. Dinkar said, “Judge Sahu sentenced 30 others to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment each in this case and also imposed a fine of Rs 3,000 each on them.”
He said that on November 21, the court convicted these 31 people for cheating and dishonesty in the police constable recruitment exam conducted by Vyapam in 2013 and fixed November 25 as the date of sentencing. Dinkar said that those who were sentenced today include 12 impersonators (those who give exams in lieu of others) and 7 touts (who take money from candidates to get them passed). Out of these 12 impersonators, 6 impersonators were caught from the examination center of Bhopal and 6 impersonators were caught from the examination center of Datia.
He said that the prosecution had produced 91 witnesses and several pieces of evidence to convict these accused for cheating and dishonesty in the examination. Dinkar said that a case was registered against these people under sections 419, 420, 467, 468, and 471 of IPC. It may be noted that in the recruitment examinations and Pre-Medical Test (PMT) conducted by Vyapam for various government jobs in Madhya Pradesh, scams of crores of rupees were allegedly committed in the last several years and in this, the former Governor of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh were involved. Former Chief Minister Ram Naresh Yadav (now deceased) was also surrounded. Besides him, several professional persons, ministers, politicians, bureaucrats, brokers, and students are accused of this scam. Some people including one of these ministers have also been jailed.
