Key points
- BMW India to raise prices by up to 3% effective September 1, 2025.
- Third hike this year after January and April; cumulative increase around 10% in 2025.
- Reasons cited: rupee-dollar volatility, higher input and logistics costs, and supply-chain pressures.
- Current price range: 2 Series Gran Coupe starts at Rs46.90 lakh; flagship BMW XM up to Rs2.60 crore (ex-showroom).
- Record H1 2025 sales; brand expects sustained demand into festive season with new launches and finance offers.
New Delhi: BMW India has confirmed another price revision across its portfolio, with ex-showroom prices set to rise by up to 3% from September 1, 2025. This marks the third price adjustment this calendar year, following increases implemented in January and April, taking the total rise to roughly 10% year-to-date. The company attributes the move to a combination of currency fluctuations, elevated raw material and transportation costs, and lingering supply-chain challenges that continue to push up overall manufacturing costs.
Why prices are going up
- Currency headwinds: The rupee’s volatility against the US dollar and euro raises the landed cost of imported parts and CBUs.
- Input inflation: Higher costs for metals, batteries (for EVs), semiconductors, and advanced electronics.
- Logistics and compliance: Increased freight, insurance, and regulatory compliance costs add to unit economics.
- Supply-chain normalization lag: While global supply chains have improved, premium components and EV-specific parts still carry elevated pricing and lead times.
Current price landscape
- Entry point: BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe currently starts at Rs46.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
- Flagship: BMW XM, the high-performance hybrid SUV, is priced up to Rs2.60 crore (ex-showroom).
- Implication of hike: Depending on variant and ex-showroom base, a 3% increase could add approximately Rs1.4–7.8 lakh on typical luxury models, and more on top-end M and flagship trims.
