Islamabad: Once again armed attackers have attacked army posts in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province. The attackers attacked two security posts in Naushki and Panjgur areas late on Wednesday night. At least four attackers were killed in this encounter. According to media reports, the attack has been carried out by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) on the Frontier Corps of the Pakistan Army. It is being claimed that 45 soldiers of Pakistan have died in these attacks, but no official statement has come about it yet.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, has issued a statement regarding the attack. According to the army statement, the first attack took place in the Panjgur district of Balochistan district. The ISPR said that hours after the first attack, the attackers tried to enter a security camp in Naushki, Balochistan, but the soldiers foiled their attempt and killed four attackers. He said that both the attacks have been successfully thwarted while inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists.
The grenade attack took place in Jaffrabad district
At least 17 people, including two policemen, were injured in a grenade attack two days ago in the Jaffrabad district of southwestern Balochistan province. Senior police officials said unidentified motorcyclists hurled a grenade at a crowded market in Dera Allahyar town of Jafrabad district on Sunday night. At least 17 people, including two police personnel, were injured in the attack, he said. A police officer feared that the attack may have been aimed at two soldiers, as militants and Baloch separatists frequently target security forces and installations in the province.
Violence has been going on for a long time in Balochistan, which borders Iran and Afghanistan. Baloch militant groups have carried out several attacks targeting the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in the region. On Friday, a vehicle of the security forces came under a landmine in the Sui area of the province and the blast killed at least four personnel and injured a dozen personnel. On the night of January 25-26, 10 Pakistani soldiers were killed in an attack by terrorists on a security forces post in the troubled province’s Kech district.
