New Delhi: Satya Pal Malik, one of the famous governors of the country, has now retired. His term ended on 3 October and he was not given any extension. BD Mishra has been sworn in as the Governor of Meghalaya in his place. He is currently the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and has been given the additional charge of Meghalaya. BD Mishra had retired from the army as a brigadier. He is the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh since 2017. He took oath on October 4, replacing Satyapal Malik, who retired on the 3rd. Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh and several other senior cabinet ministers were present at Mishra’s swearing-in ceremony.

Hope to get your guidance and cooperation. We warmly welcome you to this beautiful state. Satya Pal Malik had been in the news for his anti-government remarks against the now repealed agricultural laws. Even after being in power, there was a lot of discussion about supporting the movement in this way and Satyapal Malik had also made a direct attack on PM Narendra Modi many times.

Satya Pal Malik was the governor of Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, and Goa before being transferred to Meghalaya in August 2020. In a press release issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan, it has been said that Brigadier (Retd.) (Dr.) B.D. Mishra, while discharging his duties, will also hold the additional charge of the Governor of Meghalaya till regular arrangements are made. Satya Pal Malik completed his term on Monday, the release said. Satyapal Malik was the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir during the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution.

Satya Pal Malik was appointed as the Governor of Bihar in 2017. After Jammu and Kashmir, Malik was given the charge of Governor of Goa and finally of Meghalaya. During the farmers’ agitation, he was embroiled in controversy after publicly making statements against the central government. Malik, in one of his statements, had claimed that during his tenure as the governor of Jammu and Kashmir, two files had come before him. He was offered a huge bribe by a representative of a leading business house and a political party in the country. Based on his statement, the CBI is investigating the matter by registering a case.
