New Delhi: Senior IAS officer Amit Agrawal has been made the Chief Executive Officer of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), which provides Aadhaar services. He has taken over as the CEO on Monday (June 19).
Prior to joining as CEO of UIDAI, Agarwal was an Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Prior to this, he was an Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Finance.
Amit Agarwal is a 1993-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre. He has held several important positions in the State Government as well as at the Centre.
Agarwal is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT Kanpur). He has held several important positions in both the states of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh apart from the Centre.
Agarwal served as secretary in charge of commercial tax and technical education departments and finance secretary in the state government, among other roles in Chhattisgarh.
