Karachi: At least 11 coal miners were shot and killed on Sunday after gunmen abducted them in the troubled southwestern Baluchistan province of Pakistan.

The Express Tribune quoted police as saying that the miners on their way to work were abducted by unidentified gunmen and shot them by taking them to the nearby hills in Mach area. According to police, six of these miners died on the spot and five more seriously injured died on the way to the hospital. Police, Frontier Corps, and district administration officials arrived at the scene after the incident. Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan has condemned the incident and sought an inquiry report from the authorities concerned.
