New Delhi: Delhi Capitals, affected by Covid-19 cases, defeated Punjab Kings by nine wickets in a match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday due to bowlers. Delhi Capitals first bundled out Punjab Kings for just 115 runs with the help of their spinners’ superb bowling. Then openers David Warner (60) and Prithvi Shaw (41 runs) batted aggressively and shared an 83-run partnership for the first wicket. With this, the team easily won 119 runs for one wicket in 10.3 overs. Warner sent the third ball of the 11th over for a boundary to take the team to sixth place in the points table, which was its third win in six matches. With this win, there was a good increase in the net run rate of the Delhi Capitals.
Due to Covid-19 cases, this match was shifted from Pune to Brabourne Stadium. Delhi Capitals wicket-keeper batsman Tim Seifert was found to be Covid-19 positive on Wednesday morning, creating uncertainty over the conduct of the match. But permission was given to hold the match just an hour ago.
